Welcome to the first Retro Horror Jam!

This game jam is all about the old, terrors from the past, nightmares from a bygone era, and haunted relics from a nostalgic time. The jam starts on the 25th of September and you'll have a week to make a retro horror game based around a theme.

Here's the discord if you want to talk with others!

Theme

The theme will be announced at the start of the jam!

   Retro?

Retro doesn't just mean use the PS1 style, be creative! retro can be used in a lot of ways. make a game that uses an old timey movie style, make a game about analog tech (just make it unique, we don't need basic games with VHS's), as long as a retro idea is clear than do whatever as long as it's horror of course

       Voting

The voting is based on these 6 criteria

    1. Gameplay: does the game feel good to play, is the gameplay unique or is well made, does the game even work?
    2. Visuals: how does the game look, does it's art style match the game?
    3. Audio Design: does the game have audio, how well does its audio match the game?
    4. Retroness: does the game match a retro style or feel?
    5. Horror: is the game well scary? to keep things more objective try and vote based on what it uses for horror, if it only uses blood and jumpscares than it most likely isn't that scary to a wider audience, but if it did scare you on a personal level than don't feel pressured to not rate highly.
    6. Theme Implementation: how well do they use the theme, is it unique, is it clear?
