PROCJAM - the Procedural Generation Jam - is a creative coding jam about making things that make things. That could be a game that uses procedural generation to generate levels or stories, but it might also be an interactive art tool, a cool music maker or something else entirely. Our jam is laid-back, relaxed and welcoming to newcomers, so whether you're an expert in building generative systems or curious about trying it out for the first time, you'll find yourself very welcome here.

We also have an amazing community-run Discord, if you want help, advice or just to talk to people who like this stuff too!

PROCJAM just has one main rule: make something that makes something. You can use existing code and art, you can work in teams or alone, you can start early or submit late. We highly recommend taking your time and spending the week doing something that's fun for you, and sharing your progress with the community as you do it!

We'll have a theme announcement just before the jam starts - which is also optional!

  • You can start before the start date, and finish after the end date - contact us on Twitter for a 'late' submission. Don't overwork, and take breaks!
  • You can use existing code/art/writing/anything or even continue an existing project. Feel free to add something generative to a game you're making and submit that!
  • We welcome all kinds of submissions. No entry is too small or too big for this jam. Whether this is your first generator of your hundredth, we welcome what you've made, and we all want to see it.
  • PROCJAM has no winners and no losers. We try to highlight and celebrate all our entries, and everyone who enters will get featured in Jupiter Hadley's YouTube compilation of the jam!

The use of generative AI (that is, tools such as Midjourney or Copilot, or tools built on similar models) in entries is not permitted in the jam. Ultimately we can't check to see if you're using it, so it's very much an honour system which we hope you'll all respect. There are lots of other communities and events supporting that kind of work if you want them, but PROCJAM isn't.

PROCJAM has a big list of resources for you to use from past years!
