Welcome to the Alternate Reality Game (ARG) Jam!
What is an ARG?
An Alternate Reality Game is an online game where a fictional story is written and told, appearing as though it is happening in the real world.
Rules
- Maximum team size is 5. You can join the discord server to find people for a team.
- All games must be free to play.
- Be kind to others in the jam.
- Follow the theme.
- Create your game during the submission window.
- All entries unrelated to the theme or jam entirely will be removed.
Requirements
- Your game must include some sort of puzzle or secret code to solve in order to know the full story. (Or in order to progress, but this is optional.)
- Can be made in any game engine.
- Your game must include a Windows build. Web, linux, and mac builds are optional.
Voting categories:
There will be ~2 weeks for voting on the games, which will be judged on:
- Overall - Your overall opinion of the game.
- How well the theme was used - Does the game pertain to the theme, and how well is it incorporated?
- Quality of the storytelling - Does this game tell an entertaining, and consistent story?
- How engaging the puzzles are - Are the puzzles unique, and well done? Are they difficult, but not so much to make the player angry?
- How fun the game is to play - Did you enjoy playing this game?
- Game audio - Does this game have well designed audio? Does the audio fit the situation? (Includes sounds, voice acting, voice acting, music, etc.)
- Aesthetic - Does the game look good? (UI, assets, and all things visual)
