Ecaroh’s Alchemy Jam encourages you to explore the art of alchemy, repurposing bits and pieces from your previous games like ingredients in a new magical recipe!
This jam revolves around a suggested theme and a unique pixel art asset revealed at the start of the jam.
This is a quarterly jam held on the 23rd every 3 months.
There will be a poll to vote for the theme on discord~7 days before the jam begins!
(Think of it like the secret ingredient on Iron Chef!)
You can be creative with how you use it, and can even redraw it in your own style if you like!
▪ You may reuse art and code from previous projects, but start with a "blank canvas" for your overall game design for the jam period.
If you're doing a remix, please include a list of your starting ingredients with your jam submission.
▪ Feature the theme asset in your game.
▪ Third-party assets are allowed with proper credits. AI may assist you in generating concept art and finding code solutions, but not in creating final artwork, including thumbnails.
▪ You may gather your resources ahead of time, but development starts when the jam begins.
Brainstorm and sketch as much as you like before then!
▪ No NSFW content, extreme violence, or any form of discrimination.
Aim for an ESRB rating of “E” for "Ecaroh’s Innocence is Preserved” :)

Q: Any requirements for our game engine?
A : Use any game engine or framework you want, as long as it can be uploaded to itch.io for us to play! Web builds are highly recommended.
Q: Do I have to make it a pixel art game?
A: Nope! You can remake the themed pixel art asset in any style you want! Just make it recognizable and prominent in your game's design.
Q: Do I have to start my game from scratch?
A: Nope! Remakes and remixes are encouraged, but so is fairness to other participants — The spirit of this jam is for your codebase and existing assets to be a springboard to creativity, not a shortcut to the finish line. ✨
Q: Do I have to make a remix?
A: Nope! It's not required! It's merely a freedom you're allowed to utilize if you so choose.✨ If you want, the "alchemy" aspect can just be focused on incorporating the provided asset.
Feel free to stop by if you have any questions!
